UET Peshawar Ranks 1st in KP Professional Universities, VC Hosts Appreciation Meeting

30 June 2026

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak convened a high-level appreciation meeting to congratulate faculty and staff on UET Peshawar securing 1st Position among Technical Public Sector Universities in the KP Performance-Based University Rankings 2026. Celebrating this achievement, which earned the university a PKR 65.92 million grant for excellence in research, education, and governance, the Vice Chancellor urged all departments and sections to enhance data transparency and continue striving toward international benchmarks like the QS World University Rankings.

RIPE 2024-25 Corrective Action Report Review and PREE 2025-26

28-30 June 2026

UET Peshawar successfully conducted a comprehensive three-day quality assurance evaluation from June 28 to 30, 2026, in alignment with Higher Education Commission (HEC) Quality Assurance Agency benchmarks. On June 28, 2026, the assessment committee reviewed the Review of Institutional Performance & Enhancement (RIPE) 2024–25 compliance, the Institutional Performance Evaluation Report (IPER) 2024–25, and the Corrective Action Report against the Implementation Plan of RIPE 2024–25. This was followed on June 29–30 by the Program Review for Effectiveness and Enhancement (PREE) for 2025–26, which covered 35 academic programs (19 MSc, 15 PhD, and 1 UG).// // The review was carried out by a distinguished Assessment Team comprising external members Prof. Dr. Bashir Alam (Dean, Faculty of Engineering, CECOS University) and Dr. Naveed Jan (Director QEC, UoT Nowshera), alongside internal members Prof. Dr. Shaukat Ali Shah and Dr. Noor Badshah (UET Peshawar). Dr. Safdar Nawaz Khan and Mr. Dil Nawaz (QEC) coordinated the process as resource persons.

Coursera Orientation Session - DLSEI 3.0 Cohort 3

Digital Learning & Skills Enrichment Initiative (DLSEI) welcomed license applicants of the DLSEI 3.0 Cohort 3. As part of a national initiative that provides access to world-class education, industry-recognized credentials, and in-demand digital skills through Coursera, the participants were invited to attend this insightful orientation session. The session covered program overview, Coursera platform and key features, How to select courses and specializations, Learning pathways and certifications, License utilization policies and requirements, Tips for a successful learning journey, and finally the Q&A session.

Meeting of Program Team Members on Continuous Quality Improvement in Outcome Based Education

The session on Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) in Outcome Based Education (OBE) was conducted on 19 May 2026 at the Video Conference Hall at 2 pm to reinforce QEC's commitment to academic excellence and adherence to accreditation standards. The meeting was held for all Program Team Members (PTMs) of both PEC and non-PEC programs. The primary objective of this session was to streamline our assessment processes by focusing on the practical implementation of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI). Specifically, the Closing-of-the-Loop for Course Learning Outcomes, Program Learning Outcomes, and Program Educational Objectives were addressed. The Resource Person was Dr. Yasir Afridi, PTM DCSE.

2nd Meeting of the Institutional Quality Circle (IQC)

The 2nd Meeting of the Institutional Quality Circle (IQC) was held at UET Peshawar, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Rizwan Mehmood Gul, Dean FMCIE. The meeting was attended by senior faculty members and administrative officers including Prof. Dr. Farid Ullah Khan (Secretary BOASAR), Mr. Muhammad Zubair (Treasurer), Mr. Muhammad Haroon (Controller of Examinations), Dr. Safdar Nawaz Khan (Assistant Professor, DCSE), Mr. Dil Nawaz (Deputy Director QEC), Engr. Jamal Anjum Fawad (PG Student) and Mr. Abdul Sammad (UG Student). The meeting emphasized strengthening quality assurance mechanisms, improving documentation practices, and ensuring full compliance with academic quality standards.

HEC’s DLSEI Open House Webinar

Workshop on PREE Standards under HEC’s PSG-2023

The QEC, UET Peshawar successfully conducted a workshop on "PREE Standards under HEC’s PSG-2023" at the Video Conference Hall. The session, led by resource person Dr. Muhammad Nauman Habib from Pak-Austria Fachhochschule, focused on the implementation of the Programme Review for Effectiveness and Enhancement (PREE) framework to ensure high-level quality assurance across academic programs. The event saw active participation from Prof. Dr. Shahzad Khattak (Director Undergraduate Studies), the Chairpersons of the Civil, Mechanical and Mining Departments, program team members and postgraduate advisors. To conclude the session, Dr. Muhammad Ajmal (Director Postgraduate Studies) presented a formal shield to the guest speaker on behalf of the University.

HEC QAA Progress Review Meeting: Together for Quality Excellence

HEC’s Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) successfully concluded a three-day regional engagement with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Degree Awarding Institutions (DAIs) under its "Quality Excellence and Leadership Engagement" initiative. The Director QEC took part in the three-day event and presented the progress of UET Peshawar towards the adoption of HEC’s PSG-2023. The Director QEC was awarded a souvenir by HEC QAA for the best team presentation on UET Peshawar’s progress, along with sister universities in the team.

DLSEI Skills to Career Webinar Session

The DLSEI Cohort 2 final webinar was scheduled on 16 Dec. 2025. This session guided students on how to leverage the skills they have learned on Coursera and start their professional journey. HR Professional Mr. Muhammad Ashir Siddiqui was the resource person, who emphasized applying skills and building professional profiles for today’s job and freelance market.

KP Job Fair 2025 at UET Peshawar

The Higher Education Department’s KP Job Fair 2025, organized by UET Peshawar, successfully connected the industry with fresh graduates, fostering employment opportunities and strengthening university-industry linkages. Key highlights compiled primarily by QEC, CDC, ORIC and Media sections of UET Peshawar include: registered companies: 208, active company participation: 169, total student participation: 5,800+, sponsorship funds raised: PKR 1.3 Million, and MOUs signed: 83. The event demonstrated strong industry trust in UET Peshawar’s graduates and highlighted significant student interest from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and ICT. Chief Guest Muhammad Sohail Afridi, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, graced the occasion alongside Mr. Kamran Ahmed Afridi, Secretary of Higher Education KP, and His Excellency Ali BanafshehKhah, Consul General of Iran in Peshawar attended the event.

Session on Higher Education Statistics (HES) at HEC Regional Center Peshawar

HEC organized a two-day capacity-building and follow-up session on Higher Education Statistics (HES) and Affiliated Colleges Data at the HEC Regional Centre, Peshawar, to strengthen data development in higher education institutions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Conducted by the Higher Education Data Repository (HEDR) Division, the session focused on developing authentic, accurate, and timely data for the years 2023–24 and 2024–25. The Director QEC and Office Assistant QEC, Syed Abdul Haseeb Shah, participated in the session.

Training Workshop on PREE at Islamia College University, Peshawar

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), Islamia College Peshawar organized a One-Day Training Workshop on PREE (Program Review for Effectiveness and Enhancement). The objective of the workshop was to enhance the understanding of the PREE process, strengthen institutional quality assurance practices, and promote collaboration among QECs across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Deputy Director QEC, UET Peshawar, Mr. Dil Nawaz participated in the event.

Training Session at Bacha Khan University, Charsadda

The Director QEC was invited as a resource person to Bacha Khan University (BKUC), Charsadda, to conduct a training session titled "Academic Writing in the Age of Generative AI: Tools and Ethics of Plagiarism Prevention." The session was attended by senior faculty members, administrative staff, and the BKUC QEC team. The training covered several key areas, including the HEC Anti-Plagiarism Policy (Version 2.0, 2023), the use of Generative AI tools in academic writing, and Turnitin for Instructors. The Vice Chancellor of BKUC, Prof. Dr. Khan Alam, concluded the event by distributing shields and certificates among the participants.

DLSEI Learner Webinar

The QEC team attended the DLSEI Learner Webinar organized by DLSEI, HEC Pakistan, featuring top performers from Cohort 1 of DLSEI 3.0. They shared their Coursera experiences, learning strategies, and success tips with students, faculty and entrepreneurs. UET Peshawar was among the top-performing universities in Cohort 1 in terms of course completions.

Meeting of the Program Team Members

The meeting of the Program Team Members (PTMs) was conducted on 23 Sept. 2025 at the Video Conference Hall to discuss the issues related to managing the Quality OBE software with focus on the Outcome Based Education (OBE). Members of the remote campuses participated online. The meeting aimed to discuss challenges, gather feedback from PTM members, and suggest improvements for smooth operation and user experience. Dr. Amaad Khalil, Associate to Director QEC, highlighted the requirements for transition from the QOBE system to the ERP system for OBA. The requirement of Course Teacher Evaluation (CTE) reports was also discussed.

Turnitin Webinar: Administrator Training Session

A webinar for the Administrators of the Turnitin Feedback Studio in the Universities under Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan was held on 2 Sept. 2025. The purpose of the webinar was to train the admins on the new Turnitin Feedback Studio experience. The webinar was organized in coordination with HEC. The Director QEC and Deputy Director QEC participated in the webinar.

Webinar on Top Emerging Skills on Coursera for Career Success

2 Sept. 2025

A webinar was scheduled on 2 Sept. 2025 to cover two key topics to support career growth. Firstly, the Future-Ready Graduates having Top Emerging Skills for Career Success part was to learn about the most in-demand skills shaping the future workplace. Secondly, the Project Management part was to explore career opportunities and Coursera courses to kickstart the career journey. Director QEC attended the webinar.

QEC Visited by Former Director Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad

1st Meeting of the Institutional Quality Circle (IQC)

UET Peshawar has taken a major stride towards achieving its strategic goals under PSG-2023 with the inaugural meeting of the Institutional Quality Circle (IQC), held on 28 July 2025. The meeting was chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sadiq Khattak, while Dr. Safdar Nawaz Khan, Director Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), outlined key agenda items, including Review of Institutional Performance and Enhancement (RIPE) and Post Graduate Program Review (PGPR).

The meeting was attended by IQC Members, Prof. Dr. Rizwan Mehmood Gul (Dean FMCIE), Prof. Dr. Syed Waqar Shah, (Dean FECE), Prof. Dr. Khizar Azam (Registrar), Prof. Dr. Farid Ullah Khan (Secretary BOASAR), Mr. Muhammad Haroon (Controller), Mr. Shahid Nawaz (Treasurer), Dr. Nasru Minallah (Director ORIC), and Dr. Shamaila Farooq (Director Media). Postgraduate student Engr. Jamal Anjum Fawad and undergraduate student Abdul Sammad, both members of the IQC, also attended the meeting. Vice Chancellor reinforced UET Peshawar's commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in higher education.
