Dr. Zahid Ur Rehman
Dr. Zahid Ur Rehman, an esteemed Mining Engineer and academician, hails from the picturesque district of Peshawar, Pakistan. His journey in the realm of education and professional excellence began with his Secondary School Certificate from BISE Peshawar in 2003. This was followed by his completion of Higher Secondary education from Islamia College Peshawar in 2005. Determined to pursue his passion for mining engineering, Dr. Rehman enrolled in the Department of Mining Engineering at UET Peshawar, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 2010. His dedication and thirst for knowledge led him to pursue further studies, culminating in the attainment of a Master of Science in Mining Engineering from the same esteemed institution in 2016. Undeterred by challenges and fueled by his academic pursuits, Dr. Rehman embarked on a journey of research and scholarly endeavors, earning his Doctorate in Mining Engineering from UET Peshawar in 2022. His specialization in rock mechanics underscored his commitment to exploring and understanding the intricate dynamics of geological formations, particularly in the context of tunnel design in northern areas of Pakistan. Over the years, Dr. Rehman’s contributions to academia have been multifaceted, encompassing teaching, research, and administrative roles. His tenure as a lecturer at UET Peshawar since 2011 has been marked by his passion for teaching and his unwavering commitment to nurturing the next generation of mining engineers. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Rehman has actively participated in various administrative capacities within the Department of Mining Engineering, including serving as a member of the Departmental Purchase Committee, Tour In-Charge, and Laboratory In-Charge for Rock Mechanics and Computer Labs, among others. His dedication to the enhancement of academic standards is evident in his role as Semester Coordinator and his involvement in Outcome-Based Education (OBE) accreditation as Program team member, assessment team member. Due to his dedication and excellent work in the field of OBE the Mining Engineering department achieved PEC’s OBE accreditation at Level II. His research expertise is evident through numerous impact factor and HEC recognized publications. He has also supervised many undergraduate and post-graduate research projects.
