Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Khan

Assistant Professor

Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Khan is a distinguished expert in hydraulics, hydrology, and numerical modeling, with over 20 years of experience in hydraulic design, climate risk assessment, and resilience evaluation. He specializes in flood risk mitigation, hydrological studies, and climate change impact analysis, leveraging advanced computational tools to develop sustainable water resource solutions.
Since completing his Ph.D. in Computational Fluid Dynamics from Loughborough University, UK, Dr. Khan has been an integral part of UET Peshawar, serving as an Assistant Professor and contributing significantly to academia, research, and industry collaborations. Over the years, he has held key leadership roles, including Campus Coordinator at UET Bannu Campus for five years and Chairman of the Department of Civil Engineering for seven years. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at the National Institute of Urban Infrastructure Engineering, UET Peshawar, and also holds the charge Director of the Continuing Engineering Education Center at UET Peshawar.
Research Contributions
Dr. Khan has an impressive portfolio of research publications in reputable national and international journals. His work primarily focuses on computational fluid dynamics, hydraulic modeling, climate-resilient infrastructure, and sustainable water resources management. Some of his notable publications include studies on numerical modeling of shallow water flows, hydraulic simulations for flood forecasting, and innovative approaches to wastewater treatment and water supply systems. His research contributions have been widely cited and have significantly advanced the understanding of complex fluid dynamics and environmental engineering challenges.
Industry & Consultancy Work
Dr. Khan has led numerous hydrological and hydraulic modeling projects for climate adaptation, disaster resilience, water supply systems, and hydroelectric power initiatives. His expertise has been sought after by international organizations, including the United Nations University (UNU), UNICEF, GIZ Germany, and Adam Smith International. Through these collaborations, he has played a key role in projects aimed at climate governance, flood risk assessment, and sustainable water infrastructure development.
With expertise in state-of-the-art hydrological modeling tools such as HEC-RAS, Flow3D, and ArcGIS Pro, Dr. Khan is dedicated to advancing sustainable water management practices and fostering climate-resilient infrastructure development.
Through his academic, research, and industry contributions, Dr. Khan continues to play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable infrastructure and water resources management. His multidisciplinary expertise and dedication to addressing critical engineering challenges make him a leading figure in the field of civil and water resources engineering.
