Prof. Dr. Rashid Rehan

Director NIUIP

Dr. Rashid Rehan is a Professor at the National Institute of Urban Infrastructure Planning (NIUIP) and is currently also serving as its Director. He obtained his BSc degree in Civil Engineering from UET Peshawar, receiving a Gold Medal for academic excellence. He was awarded the President’s Scholarship by the University of Western Ontario Canada for Master’s program. During his PhD studies at the University of Waterloo, he received the prestigious Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) doctoral award.
Dr. Rashid’s almost 3 decades of professional experience includes working in various private and public sector organizations before he joined UET Peshawar. His research and professional areas of interest include: climate change adaptation & mitigation in physical infrastructure systems; utility financing & service delivery; water supply and sanitation; and infrastructure asset management. Within the public policy domain, he has worked on developing water supply & sanitation, and housing policies.
His public service contributions include serving on the Boards of Directors of Water and Sanitation Services Company Peshawar (WSSP) and TransPeshawar (an urban mobility company). He is currently a member of the Environmental Protection Council of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
