Prof. Dr. Syed Riaz ul Hassnain received his B.Sc degree in Electrical Engineering from UET Peshawar, Pakistan, in 1989. He served as Workshop Engineer in health department Govt. of NWFP for 10 years. Then, he received his MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering (Power) from UET Peshawar, Pakistan in 1998 and 2009, respectively. He has also earned a postgraduate diploma in urban and regional planning from University of Peshawar. He joined UET Abbottabad Campus in 2004 as Assistant Professor, promoted to the rank of Professor in 2016, and remained head of department for 17.5 years until 2022. He also served as Coordinator of the campus for two tenures.
